SNOW THOUGHTS

So not too long ago there was a big snowstorm, and while I was shovelling, my headphones died leaving me, an over-thinker, with nothing to do but think. I must’ve had a thousand different thoughts in that time, but one thought that really stuck with me was - shovelling snow is a lot like life.
We all think we know what 'snow' is, but do we know the true definition? Snow is atmospheric water vapor, frozen into ice crystals and falling in light, white flakes, or lying on the ground as a white layer. More often than not, when people think of snow, they think of the white layer on the ground, and forget that layer is made up of a gazillion individual flakes.

Similarly to snow, life is made up of a gazillion moments that shape us as human beings. Life is not always easy but it’s not always hard either, you just have to find a reason to keep going. While shovelling, I was exhausted, my back was aching and I felt like I was in Antarctica, before global warming. The only reason I was able to continue was because I took dance breaks and kept reminding myself of my end goal: to clear a path for me, my family and pedestrians to walk.

Each moment you experience in life will have a different effect on you. Some moments will warm you up inside, creating hope, and others may weigh on you, creating doubt. Either way, no matter what, you have focus on the end goal and keep shovelling. It may take you longer than others to clear the snow, but from personal experience, when you look back, you’ll be grateful. You’ll be grateful because you proved that through strength and resilience, you made it. You’ll be grateful because along the way, you learned not to lift the shovel above your heart and to pass the knowledge on to someone else. You’ll be grateful because you didn’t give up.
