These days, my perfume collection leans heavily toward niche fragrances, so I don’t own many designer perfumes anymore. That said, I still own enough gems to finally bring you a Designer Edition of my #OnlyOne perfume series. For this edition, I’m tweaking the rules, instead of “Only brands I own more than five fragrances from.” the criteria is now "Designer brands I’ve smelled at least five fragrances from and own at least one bottle."

This series isn’t about hype or brand loyalty, it’s about identifying the one standout fragrance that truly represents a designer house at its best. If you’re into designer fragrances, perfume reviews, or figuring out which designer scent is actually worth owning, this one’s for you.

Designer brand perfumes

Lancôme

I've always loved Lancôme perfumes, but Oud Bouquet took things to a whole other level. This scent has been duped so many times and yet, this original praline, vanilla rose and oud blend cannot be beaten.

Dior

Until the La Collection Privée line was launched, I can't say I was a huge fan of Dior fragrances, but now? They have some of my all time favourite scents. For this one I went with my second favourite, since my most favourite, Fève Délicieuse, is now discontinued. Vanilla Diorama is liquid vanilla gold.

Yves Saint Laurent

Supreme Bouquet is such an underrated perfume from the house, but boy is it a gorgeous scent; this ambery, ylang-ylang and tuberose scent is divine! YSL is another brand that didn't pique my interest until I explored their private line, Le Vestiaire des Parfums.

Tom Ford

This perfume birthed my, and many others', love for the cherry note in perfumery. This beauty smells like a sweet and syrupy maraschino cherry, topped with some vanilla, almond and spices. The addition of tonka bean and peru balsam adds a thickeness to the scent that make is comforting yet sexy. I now own some other exquisite cherry perfumes like Siréne by Fragrance Du Bois and Fétiche La Rose by Christian Louboutin, but Lost Cherry is still my favourite.

Dolce & Gabbana

I know the The One range has massively expanded since the original's release in 2006, but I still have and enjoy the bottle I own. I didn't much care for many of its other flankers, including The Only One Intense which is a cult favourite, but I did used to own many of D&G's now discontinued fragrances, including the whole D&G Anthology collection. No, I do not like Devotion.

Chanel

I currently do not own any of the Chanel private line perfumes, but I do have my eye on Coromandel and Le Lion. Of the Chanel I do own, Coco Noir is easily my favourite. It's Coco Madmoiselle's older sister, in that it has the same citrusy opening, but develops into a more sophisticated version with it's spicier base.

Let me know your favourite designer perfume in the comments and if I haven't already, I'll give it a try. Also comment any designer brands I should check out, I'm always open to discovering a new love.
