Yesterday my phone stopped working for no easily discernible reason. It was on, but was not connecting to internet via mobile data or Wifi. As this happened right before a meeting, I was unable to access all the information needed for said meeting. As I do not rely on ChatGPT to produce my work (yes, shade! 😂), I was easily able to recover and make the meeting productive, but it did get me thinking - what would happen if we suddenly had a blackout and were unable to connect to anything?

I don't know about you guys, but although my navigation is great (with a compass, not the moon or sun 🙃) and I have the right skill set to treat wounds, I cannot start a fire without a lighter, recognise poisonous berries, or build an adequate shelter without some instructions. These are skills that were once deemed so critical for survival that they were taught to all kids at a young age; these days, kids can barely use Google Maps to get around because they are constantly being chauffeured by their parents!
